Stuffing with sausage, apple and cranberries

Sausage, Apple & Cranberry Stuffing

Servings: 8

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 pound pork sausage1 cup diced onions cup diced celery

  • 1 cup diced apple

  • 12 cups bread cubes, toasted or stale

  • ½ cup dried cranberries

  • 2 tablespoons minced parsley

  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves

  • 2 tablespoons minced sage1

  • ½ teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 cup chicken stock

  • ¼ cup of butter, cut into 12 pieces, plus more for greasing the baking dish 

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium sized pan over medium heat.

  3. Add the sausage and break into small pieces while cooking.

  4. Once the sausage is cooked, add the onion, celery, and apples, and cook until soft.

  5. Place the bread cubes in a large mixing bowl. Add the sausage mixture, cranberries, herbs, salt, and pepper.

  6. Add the chicken stock to the stuffing and mix well.

  7. Place the stuffing in a greased 9x11 baking dish.

  8. Top with the remaining butter pieces.

  9. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour until golden brown.
