Assistant Store Manager
Location: Northwoods, North Vancouver and Dunbar, Vancouver
As we expand and continue to grow we are looking to add an Assistant Store Manager to our experienced retail team. This role will have the option to perform duties in either our Vancouver or North Vancouver location. Travel between locations may also be required.
Assistant Store Manager responsibilities include hiring and training sales associates, monitoring inventory and ordering merchandise based on demand. This role will also research competitive products and analyze consumer behavior to ensure our store meets and exceeds client expectations.
Our ideal candidate will have retail manager skills with a sharp business mindset. You should also be skilled at organizing and solving problems. Interpersonal and mediation skills will also be very useful, since you’ll often be acting as a liaison between managers, employees and customers.
Ultimately, the duties of the Assistant Store Manager are to make sure our stores operate effectively, and that we keep our customers happy.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
Oversees the daily workflow of the department
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensure customer service standards are met, customer concerns are resolved efficiently, and that the cashier lines run smoothly
Process cash register payments by cash, credit card, gift card, and debit
Oversee the opening and closing duties of the store; assigning the daily task lists
Work with vendors to place orders, plan, and promote products through demos; verify that discounts and promotions are reflected throughout the store
Coordinate with the Marketing and the Pricing teams that all product pricing is accurate and mirrored in the store flyer
Assist the Store Manager with ad hoc tasks such as seasonal promotions, inventory count, customer engagement events, etc.
Support the Store Manager by identifying sales and margins to boost the store financials
Performs other related duties as assigned
Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Abel to meet a flexible with work schedule including weekends, early morning and evenings
Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and customers
A proven team player and who is also team-focused
Strong problem solving and in-the-moment decision-making skills, process improvement, strategic planning, verbal communication, customer focus, management proficiency
Skilled at prioritizing tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Able to function well in a high-paced environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
Completion of a post-secondary program related to hospitality, retail management or food and beverage service management a strong asset
A minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience in a supervisory capacity at a retail store, or similar
Experience operating a point-of-sale systems
Competency using retail management software, such as online time and attendance and staff scheduling modules
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and carry moderately heavy loads, such as stock items, supplies, or equipment
Able to bend, stoop, and kneel to inspect merchandise
Salary Range
$60-75,000/annually plus compensation package depending on experience
