Seared Ahi Tuna With Tomato Avocado Salsa
Ingredients:
4 individual tuna steaks
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
1 teaspoon Chinese 5 spice powder
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1/2 cup black or white sesame seeds
2-4 tablespoons olive oil
Salsa:
2 avocadoes, peeled, pitted and diced
1 tub fresh salsa, medium or hot
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all salsa ingredients together and chill until needed.

Directions:
Combine all so sauce, mirin, 5 spice, honey, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil in a shallow baking dish. Add tuna steaks turning to coat all sides and let marinate for 30 minutes. Spread sesame seeds on a plate, ten remove steaks from marinade, and press into the seeds to coat.
Heat olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Sear steaks in the pan for about 30 seconds on each side. Remove and place on individual serving plates and top with a generous scoop of the salsa mixture. Garnish with cilantro sprigs and additional sesame seeds if desired.
