Chunky Rhubarb, Apple And Strawberry Sauce

1 lb. Rhubarb, trimmed and chopped into 1/2 inch pieces

2 lbs. Granny smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch pieces

1/2 cup sliced strawberries

1/2 – ¾ cup sugar or to taste

2 tsps. grated orange rind

1/4 cup orange juice

1/4  tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg


Place rhubarb, apples, strawberries, sugar and orange rind and juice in a large sauce pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover pan and simmer for about 30-40 minutes or until fruit is tender.

Stir in Cinnamon and nutmeg. Let cool slightly and serve warm or cold over oatmeal, yogurt, ice cream or on its’ own.
